Verve's Web Clinic in Delaware a Huge Success!

Wilmington, DE – October 2006

Verve Internet Solutions' "Web Clinic: A Day of Website Wellness" was a resounding success, attracting twenty-five Delaware-area community-based organizations who received individual website assessments. Held at the Community Services Building in Wilmington, DE on October 25, 2006, the web clinic included an hour-long presentation by Verve President/Founder Leanne Bergey on website evolution, followed by individual appointments with Verve's "Web Medics" who provided detailed assessments of participants' websites. The day-long event was co-sponsored by the University of Delaware's Center for Community Research and Service (CCRS).

"Thank you [Verve] for allowing us to align with such an outstanding program," said Melissa Watson, director of CCRS' educational programs. "I have heard nothing but the most positive feedback about the [Web Clinic]. Each of the participants I spoke to seemed so well informed."

Verve Internet Solutions, now in its tenth year of operations, provides web development services and online hosted solutions to a wide variety of organizations, including those in education, retirement and aging, human services, workforce development, healthcare, environmental, and other fields. Verve's Web Clinic is a free educational program that provides participants with an opportunity to learn specific ways their online presences can be improved.

The Web Clinic began with a one-hour presentation by Verve's President/Founder Leanne Bergey, titled "Website Evolution: How to Know When It's Time to Grow," that explored the various stages an organization's web presence goes through - from the "Foundational" website that provides only a basic overview of an organization's mission and programs, to a highly interactive user-centered experience that provides services to stakeholders. The presentation set the stage for the individual appointments that followed, where each participant had an opportunity to meet with one of Verve;s Web Medics - professional website evaluators – who provided detailed assessments of each participant's website. The assessments included scores in 12 different categories, including graphic design, quality of informational content, interactivity of the website, and more. The resulting 4-page document offered several suggestions for website improvement that participants could take back to their organizations.

For the participants, the free advice and detailed guidance they received proved to be highly valuable. On evaluation forms, comments included: "It was all extremely useful. [Suggestions to add] more photos.and suggestions for personal stories to add warmth to the site were on top though." Another participant wrote, "[The most useful aspect was] the free analysis of our website with no stings attached, that is useful immediately."

Verve plans to offer additional Web Clinics in 2007, including one this spring to take place in Philadelphia (date and location TBA). Verve is currently seeking organizational partners – preferably educational program providers – to co-sponsor the web clinic in Philadelphia.
